Clarence Buckingham Memorial Fountain

Exploring my new city...

... I chanced upon this fountain located in Grant Park on Michigan Avenue. I was fortunate enough to have a nice day when I visited the place. These are my photos of the fountain.

Chicago Air and Water Show

Exploring our new city...

The wife and I watched some aerial displays at the Oak Street Beach Front. Parachuters and supersonic airplanes... What more could I ask for?

It was also a great opportunity to bring out the telephoto lens and stretch the capabilities of the 7D. My photos are below.

For those who want to view the album in their iOS devices...

Tall Ships in Chicago

Exploring our new city, the wife and I visited the Navy Pier and looked at some "Tall Ships". It was a really gorgeous, sunny day, albeit on the chilly side, which made walking the pier a really fun experience.

The wife and I had a great time exploring this side of our new city while eating churros on the side.

Magnificent Marilyn

Exploring my new city...

New statue of Marilyn Monroe on North Michigan Avenue. I have never seen from what movie this was taken from but, I must say, the sculpture is really good.

Piece of advice if you are going to photograph a huge thing: make the photo from a significant distance away and just zoom in. I actually was the only one making photographs from the other side of the street. People were straining their necks while taking pictures because they are too close and had to look up.

Or maybe they just want to see what's hiding underneath...

And, speaking of what's underneath, yes, this statue has inspired controversy.

But, hey, a work of art is a work of art. At least it's not a piece of fluorescent bulb placed diagonally on a wall and considered avant garde...

The work was done by New Jersey based John Seward Johnson. The wife and I were lucky enough to view some of his works during our stay in Princeton.
