Finally, Some Measurable Snow in Chicago!

I don't mind the cold of winter. But having winter temperatures without even an inch of snow seems, to me, ridiculous... So, I was so glad when the very first measurable snow of this winter came!

I missed snow so much that I didn't mind the numbness that my fingers felt while I was taking these shots. Oh, and it seemed that the sub-freezing temps were too much for most tourists and even some locals as well: there were not a lot of people in Millenium Park and even the buses were not as full during the rush hour period. Well, I don't blame them. It's not fun to be outside when the temperature's at 11F with a real-feel of -5F... (Though today, luckily, while I was taking these photos, the temp was at a "mild" 22F...)

There were only a handful of people enjoying
the ice skating rink...

All Roads Lead to the Bean...
Anyway, I'm just happy that we had some measurable snow. Though I am not hoping for the more-than-a-foot kind...

Winter in Chicago

As the temperatures plummet to single digits (currently 6F while I write these, with a real-feel of -10F), let me share some of the photos that I took this really frigid day. My hand felt really cold and the cold camera only added to the discomfort that my hand felt.

But, when inspiration strikes, the cold weather won't be able to deter me.

These are some of the photos that I took.

Holiday Hangover - Tree Lighting Ceremony & the Christkindlmarket

As of this post, we haven't had more than one inch of snow here in Chicago. So you would have to forgive me if I still cannot get over the Holiday Spirits. We even had a streak of 50s temperatures at the start of the month!

So, permit me to put one last post regarding the Holiday period that just passed: the Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Daley Plaza.

I just hope the snow that we've been missing so far won't be dumped wholesale...

Holiday Hangover - The Lincoln Park ZooLights

I'm back!

It's been two weeks into the New Year, but I think everyone could still use some Holiday Cheers! Also, I didn't want to post some of my photos while the CES was ongoing in Las Vegas...

Here are some of the photos that I took during the Lincoln Park ZooLights, taken one icy-cold night; well, the night before the string of days when we had 50s temperatures - in the winter time!

Enjoy!
